More Weekend Wheels!

On Friday evening Kathy and I took a visit to the final Tri Town Cruizers Car Show of 2009. A few people had told us that it was always a good turnout of cars and we were not disappointed. There were probably around 70 cars in attendance with some really interesting models among them. My favourite was the excellent Ford pick-up truck shown here. It was a shame that we finally got there on the last night but rest assured we will be back in 2010!

On Saturday we took a leisurely drive to the shoreline to the beautiful town of Madison for the British Cars On The Green show. What a treat awaited us with so many Triumph, MG, Austin Healey and Jaguar cars to enjoy in the warm autumn sunshine. It seemed a little odd for me to be seeing cars that I have seen so many times when back in England, but it was cool to talk to a few owners about how I had seen them racing over the years and also how I used to live just 12 miles away from where these fabulous cars were originally built. A real standout for both of us was the superb Triumph TR3 pictured above.

After we left Madison we managed to squeeze in a walk on Meigs Point Beach for a short while before driving to Bristol for the Bristol Car Club’s Saturday Night Cruise. This is show that we always enjoy. There were some great cars on show as always, but for me the highlight was not one but two new 2010 Chevrolet Camaros (pictured), what a brute this car is and how nice it was to actually be able to photograph one with the hood down and not surrounded by onlookers!

Weekend Wheels

This has been a weekend of excellent car shows.
On Friday it was a trip to Hooters in Wethersfield for the 'Best Of The Best' show. There was a superb turnout and a great variety of cars, what a really enjoyable evening.

On Saturday it was the Charter Oak Firebirds Panera Bread cruise, again there was a superb selection of cars including the awseome custom pictured above. The weather was great with a low setting sun sun causing harsh shadows - us photographers are never happy!

After Panera it was a short ride up the road to the MOPAR Club's Burger King Drive In, I always enjoy this show under the parking-lot lights. Again some superb cars were in attendance.

Sunday was a trip to Enfield for the 1st Annual Fall Mopar Car and Truck Show held at Artioli Dodge. What a fabulous show this turned out to be. I was amazed to see not one, but two Plymouth Road Runner Superbirds in attendance. Before yesterday I had never seen one in the flesh so to see two was a real thrill.
Overall it has been a great weekend, some super cars and some great people, here's to many more weekends like this!

Chasing The Cruises!

Monday September 14th should have been visits to car cruises in Southington and Plainville, however, you cannot believe all that you read on the Internet and two empty car parks awaited our attention… Thanks guys.
Thankfully there were other cruises in the area so we drove to Guido’s Drive In, in Manchester, CT, and actually found something! While not a large cruise there were some great cars on show at a nice setting.
We should have quit while we were ahead, but it was decided to travel down to Meriden for another cruise night and, once more, a dark and empty car park was the result…
Thanks Guido’s you saved a wasted night!

Super Sunday

This past Sunday (September 13th) was the 30th Annual Mustang Power Show held at Mustangs Unlimited in Manchester, CT. The weather was superb and the turnout of cars was even better with Ford Mustangs as far as the eye could see. With models covering all the eras of this classic car it was a must-attend event for any self-respecting petrol head. The show, sponsored by the Mustang Car Club of New England, was a credit to the group.
